Place to study

It’s good to find a place to stay after school. There are a lot of places that we can spend the time on our work or with friends. People choose the place for studying depends on different reasons. We thought that Maui Wowie Hawaiian Café is a good place to study.

First of all, Maui Wowie Hawaiian Café is located near to Pasadena City College. It was just located right cross the street. We can easily know how to find it. The walking distance is extremely short. Beside this, the prices of the drinks are reasonable too. Students can afford it and it is worth paying for a cup of nice coffee. Moreover, this place provides a comfortable sitting area which makes us feel relaxing and enjoy the time we spend here. Also it has a Hawaiian style of decorations. Those beautiful decorations made us felt like we were actually there near a beach in Hawaii. This place was perfect for us to study because it is not crowded and it is kind of quiet. Quietness is definitely an important things when we looking for a place for studying. Lastly, this café is absolutely good place for students to working on their studies. They provide soft and comfortable sofa for customers to relax, and serve with varies kind of drinks for people to choose what they prefer. Another exciting thing for us is the free Internet, which means we can stay here to spend our leisure time to do computer assignments instead of going to Starbucks. Cause Starbucks always so crowded and sometime rarely to find a place to sit down.  So it is good that Hawaiian Café provide us a cozy place with free Internet for us to study.                          

In conclusion, we spend a lot of time at that café. The good service and space attracted us. We really enjoyed the time when we were there studying. If you are looking for a place like this, we strongly recommend Maui Wowie Hawaiian Café.

Reaching The Impossible

        Climbing is a very perlious thing to do. Especial when you try to climb the highest mountain in Peru. Any climber must be in a very good shape and have a talent. For Joe and Simon that would be no problem because they were talented mountain climbers.

        First of all, lots of people had tried to reach the summit of this, but they never succeeded. However, Simon and Joe were young so maybe they did not have lots of experiance as others, but they were the first people to reach the top of the highest mountain in Peru. This is enough prof that they were realy talented people and also brave. In addition,  they faced lots of troubles while they were dscending the mountain because that had showed when Joe broke his leg which made it so hard for him to climb down.

However, they were able to wo rk together and try their best to find a solution for their problem which was by letting Joe slide first down the mountain while simon was holding the rope for him. This showed that they never lost hope and they were trying to figure out   a way to save their lives. Last of all, they succeeded to still be alive after all that they had faced like dehydration, frozen weather, an especial Joe's broken leg, and falling into the crevice. After all this, he never lost hope and he always tried to save his life. That was by looking for a way to get out from that crevice.

       In conclusion, climbing for Simon and Joe is a very fun thing to do, but if they were not real talented people, they would not have been able to reach the highest mountain top and still be alive to tell us their cliffhanger story.

Reason for choosing PCC’s ESL Program

                Nowadays, every community college is providing ESL Program for students. It helps us to build up the foundation of English. We have studied in PCC’s ESL Program for a long time and  have   good reasons why we chose PCC’s ESL Program.

                First of all, PCC’s ESL classes always consist of a small number of students. There are around twenty to thirty students per class. In a small class, it is easier for teacher to take care of every student and satisfy students’ needs. Therefore, students can learn in a more effective way. In addition, there are lots of resources for learning English, which are provided by PCC. For example, The Learning Assistance Center (LAC), the School library, the Reading Center and the Writing Center. Besides, PCC has an ESL Lab which provides tutoring to help ESL students to improve their English. It also provides lots of English book and DVDs. We can seek for help from these resource centers. Last of all, PCC has divided the ESL Program into five levels. It provides Grammar, Writing, Pronunciation and Listening Classes to fit every student’s needs. Students can choose the most suitable class for themselves and learn with other students in the same level. So that students can make improvements step by step.

          In conclusion, it is important for us to choose the right way to learn English. We choose PCC’s ESL program not only because of the rich teaching resources, but also for the high quality education. Students can benefit greatly through PCC’s ESL Program. It will definitely be a good choice.

There are different levels of ESL, so every student can find the right level which is going to match every one requirement.

Learning Styles

    Every individual is different when it comes to the style of learning. Every person  has a different character. There for, there are a different styles when it comes to learning. I also have different ways of learning styles.There are a few ways I prefer for learning

    First of all, interpersonal intelligence is one of my learning styles. I can understand people's needs and personalities. I have the ability to deal with other people and communicate with them because i believe that everyone is different and I always try to look for the best way to communicate with them. i think it is important to have a good relationship with others. In addition, I am a global learner. I prefer to look to the main idea when it comes to learning. I always look at the whole picture. Therefor, I have some problems when it comes to details in my learning. Sometimes I do a few mistakes, but I believe that is important to open up and not to be shy because talking to others helped me to improve my learning skills. Last of all, logical intelligence is another way I prefer for learning. I have always liked mathematics, biology, chemistry, and physics because I prefer testing and proving facts than just reading. I like mental challenges and solving problems.

   In conclusion, every person is different than others when it comes to learning. Therefor, everyone should look for the best style that is going to help improve the way of learning and achieving the main goal. Knowing our style of learning can make a big different in our life.

Learning English in Good Ways



 We know some good ways to study English outside classes. Now days English is important to our daily lives. There are lots of opportunities for us to learn English because it has become universal language around the world. As students we are looking for different ways to learn English. First of all, we think a book club is a good choice for spending our leisure time. It provides relaxing environment and variety of study resources for students. We can share our reading experiences and discuss the problem that we did not figure out in the class with different kinds of students. In addition, the habit of reading is another good way to improve English. There some good sources like newspapers, fiction, magazines, and articles from the Internet. By reading those we can improve our writing skills, vocabulary, and slang. Besides, we will also build up our confidence if we read the articles or English passages loud. Last of all, we think listening is one of the important parts to learning English too. We can improve our English in a relaxing way, such as by listening to some English songs. We can learn some new words from the lyrics and pronunciation of the words. To sum it up, we will become a life long learner and a better student for learning English. No matter if it is grammar,pronunciation or writing. English is useful to our lives.

Learning English

 My first experience learning English was interesting. I think learning English for the first time it has different experience from one to other. About me learning different language it was kind of interesting for many reasons. First of all, i remember my first English book was very colorful and full of pictures. And as a kid it made me feel happy and i could not wait to discover this new language. I felt it must be fun to learn English. Moreover, i found out that learning English was not just about learning a new language. It was more about a knowledge different culture and different life in other countries, and that was kind of interesting for me to see how learning new language helped me to see different world. Finally, be able to use different language other than my native language made me feel very good that i can understand other people language. Especially, English language is consider now the first language around the world. Therefore, i always looked forward for the next new word i was going to learn. in conclusion, Learning new language such as English was very exciting for me because it was like opening a small window to a different world, and to see how fun and interesting it can be learning a new language. it opened my eyes and my life on other culture and life.

3 Questions

a) Why are you studying English? Explain with details.
I am studying English because that is the language of the country that  i live in.  I believe i should understand what's going on around me i need to learn the language of my new country, so I will be able to communicate with everybody. Also the language will play a big part when it comes to finding a job in the future. Plus the English Language is consider the most common language in the world now.

b) Do you use English very much when you're not in this class? Explain what situations you need to use it in.

I always use English everyday and everywhere. Like with my kids, my husband, his family, on campus, and wherever i go. also what helped me to learn the language is watching American TV because I think listening to English all the time helped me in learning the language. My language is not a common language here in America and that's why I use English all the time. I believe that if anybody wants to learn new language always try to speak it as  often as you can. 

 

c) How do you feel when you use English? Are you sometimes nervous, comfortable, or...?
I use English every day in my life, so usually I feel comfortable. However, sometimes I feel kind of nervous and that's when I do not know how I can express what I want to say or how I feel, and that's because sometimes I try to translate from my language to English and that's sometimes it does not work the way I want it, and I start to get nervous and I do not know what I want to say. Therefor, I always try to use English as often as I can.
